I’ve always prided myself on finding beauty in the most unlikeliest of places and so I thought dedicating an entire blog post to this subject would be special.
I had no idea that it would be raining (not even exaggerating–it rained ALL.DAY.LONG.) on the day this session was scheduled and I was close to cancelling. I thought the rain made it even more of a challenge though because I always use sun to back-light my images so this was going to be a stark contrast to that. Challenge accepted!
We also decided to use one outfit and rotated three different coats in and out of the pictures. This is key; using clothing as props has never been easier and jackets, coats, vests and cardigan sweaters are perfect to achieve multiple looks with very little effort.
The location was a vintage 1980’s laundry mat which offered ‘lovely’ overhead fluorescent lighting which too can be a challenge in and of itself but there was so much character in this little laundry mat it didn’t even matter.
This was a fun challenge and I am excited to show the results of our little adventure at the laundry mat, in the rain and with only one outfit.
I wanted to give a special thank you to our hair and makeup pro Ashley Lease owner of Salon Seven (@salon7even), who always kills my vision and knocks it out of the park. From faux eye lashes to ruby lips I loved everything Ash did! None of this could have been possible though without my sweet model Sarah McAtee who is always up to anything and is so chill even while standing in the rain but mostly I’m super appreciative that she loves hanging and tolerates my awesome ideas. 😉
